Shaykh Ahmadullah Voices Concern Over ‘Genocide’ in Sudan, Questions Global Response

Shaykh Ahmadullah, a popular Islamic speaker and Chairman of the Assunnah Foundation, has posted on Facebook regarding the alleged genocide in the African nation of Sudan.

In the post shared on Saturday night, he highlighted the dire humanitarian situation:

He wrote: “The African country of Sudan is facing the world’s largest humanitarian crisis. At least fifteen hundred people have been killed by terrorists in the last three days, including nearly 500 patients and their relatives in hospitals.”

“Not only that, over 150,000 people have died so far in the conflict that began in 2023. Additionally, nearly 12 million people have fled their homes fearing the terrorists.”

Critique of Humanitarian Response

Shaykh Ahmadullah noted the massive scale of the humanitarian disaster in the impoverished country and the lack of effective response from human rights organizations in proportion to the crisis. He raised questions about the objectives of peacekeeping missions in Africa:

He questioned: “Are the multiple questions in the minds of aware people regarding the objective of peacekeeping missions in Africa true? Is their work in Africa, in the name of peacekeeping, merely about self-interest?”

He asked further: “Will they not take any effective steps to stop the violence in Sudan, even for the sake of upholding the meaning of the word ‘peacekeeping’? If the same incident were to occur in any developed country, the global uproar and media coverage it would receive—is Sudan getting even a quarter of that attention? Is it because they are poor and Muslim that their lives hold no value to the so-called civilized world?”
